The integrated seatpost is 400mm long, has 20mm of setback, and is designed to work with either Monolink-equipped or conventional-railed saddles.
In order to maximize aerodynamics, the bike is designed to work with both a conventional front brake and an under-the-bottom-bracket direct-mount brake. The aerodynamics of the front brake are informed by the trailing edge, which is the aerodynamically-shaped fork crown. The fork moves seamlessly to the down tube thanks to an elongated rear edge to the crown. The rear brake is hidden below, out of the wind.
Even with the direct-mount rear brake, the frame is designed to work with wheels of any width and tires up to 25mm in width.
A gander at the geometry chart will show that this bike has a slightly different geometry than the Aernario. The top tube is slightly shorter, which can work in two different ways. For triathletes who want tri’ bike aerodynamics and road bike handling, drop bars and aero clip-on’s will be stable. For traditional roadies, the shorter top tube often results in a longer stem, which yields faster steering, a feel many prefer in tight packs and hard corners.
It’s an aero road bike, but with a 950g weight for the frame, it also climbs well. Stiffness, which is part of efficient power transfer from legs to pedals to wheels, also remains high, though not quite as stiff as the Aernario—20% less in fact.
The Storck Aerfast is a slippery road bike that excels whenever speed is called for.
